Addiction Treatment

Heroin Addiction Treatment

Most people who use heroin do not want to keep using it. They keep using because stopping feels impossible. It is not. With the right medical support and a team that treats you like a person, people leave heroin behind every day. Confidential outpatient care in Glendora.

Signs of heroin addiction

Heroin dependence tends to move fast. If you see these signs in yourself or someone you love, it is time to reach for help.

In the body

  • Nodding off at odd times, or sudden drowsiness
  • Very small pupils and flushed, itchy skin
  • Feeling sick, achy, and restless when the drug wears off
  • Weight loss, poor sleep, and looking run down

In daily life

  • Needles, foil, straws, or burnt spoons hidden away
  • Money disappearing, borrowing, or selling things
  • Missing work, school, or family obligations
  • New friends, old friends gone, and lots of secrecy

In the cycle itself

  • Using more just to feel normal, not to feel high
  • Planning the day around getting and using
  • Trying to quit and getting pulled back by withdrawal
  • Using again after a break, which raises overdose risk

How we treat heroin addiction

Getting off heroin usually takes two things: medical support for your body and real therapy for everything underneath. We provide the treatment and coordinate the medical pieces, so you are never figuring it out alone.

About detox and medication: heroin withdrawal is intensely uncomfortable, and medically supervised detox may be needed first. We do not provide detox on site, but we help you find it and coordinate your step into our program right after. If medication-assisted treatment (MAT) such as buprenorphine is right for you, we coordinate with outside prescribers so medication and therapy work together. If you ever witness an overdose, call 911 right away, and ask us about carrying naloxone (Narcan).

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.

Do I need detox before starting your program?

Often, yes. Heroin withdrawal is intensely uncomfortable, and trying to white-knuckle it is why so many attempts fail. We do not provide detox on site, but we will help you find a medically supervised detox and hold your place in our program for the moment you finish.

Do you offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

We coordinate it. Medications like buprenorphine can reduce cravings and protect against overdose, and for many people they are the difference-maker. We work with outside prescribers and provide medication monitoring support, so your medication and your therapy pull in the same direction.

I have relapsed before. Is it even worth trying again?

Yes. Relapse is common with heroin, and it does not erase what you learned. Each attempt teaches you where the plan broke. One caution: after any break in use, tolerance drops and overdose risk rises, so please reach out before using again. If an overdose happens, call 911 immediately.

How long does treatment take?

It depends on you, not a calendar. Many people start with PHP or IOP for a few months and step down as life stabilizes. What matters is that support tapers gradually. We adjust the level of care as you progress.

Will anyone find out I am in treatment?

Not from us. Your information is protected by federal confidentiality law (42 CFR Part 2) and HIPAA. Employers, family, and anyone else only hear about your treatment if you choose to tell them.

Does insurance cover heroin addiction treatment?

Most major PPO and HMO plans cover it. We verify your benefits for free, usually in minutes, with no obligation. We do not accept Medi-Cal at this time.

You do not have to do this alone.
