How We Treat
Our Therapies
Every program at Glendora Recovery Center is built from these therapies. Your plan combines the ones that fit you, and skips the ones that do not.
Individual therapy
One therapist, one hour, one agenda: yours. Individual therapy is where treatment gets personal, and it anchors every level of care we offer.
Your therapist uses evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT to work on what drives the substance use or the symptoms: trauma, anxiety, grief, anger, relationships. We see symptoms as survival strategies that outlived their usefulness, not character flaws. The goal is not just fewer symptoms. It is the return of energy, direction, and a life you actually want.
Group therapy
Recovery is hard to do alone, and it turns out you do not have to. Small groups meet in the morning and afternoon, guided by a clinician, and built on one rule: what is said in group stays in group.
Group is where skills get practiced, shame gets smaller, and people who felt uniquely broken discover they are neither unique nor broken.
Get Help
Who are you here for?
A few quick taps, completely confidential. Answer right here on the page.
Family therapy
Addiction and mental illness live in a family system, not just in a person. Family therapy brings the people who matter into the room, with a therapist keeping the conversation safe and productive.
Sessions focus on honest communication, boundaries that hold, rebuilding trust, and understanding what recovery needs from everyone. Families usually leave these sessions relieved, not wounded.
Trauma-focused therapy
For many people, trauma is exactly what the substance use was medicating, so treating one without the other rarely holds. Trauma work here is structured and paced: stabilization and coping skills come first, and you are never forced to retell details before you are ready.
Your therapist draws on trauma-focused CBT, DBT skills for intense emotions, grounding techniques for flashbacks, and Seeking Safety for trauma that travels with substance use. You set the pace, and you can pause at any time.
Art therapy
Some things are easier to draw than to say. Art therapy gives you a way to get an experience out of your head and onto paper, where you and your therapist can finally look at it together.
No talent required, truly. The value is in the making and in the conversation it opens, not in the product. For clients who freeze in talk therapy, this is often where the real work starts.
Yoga therapy
Recovery lives in the body too. Yoga therapy uses movement, breath work, and mindfulness to calm a nervous system that has been running on alarm for years.
Sessions are adapted to every body and fitness level. Clients use it to sleep better, manage stress and cravings, and build a daily routine that supports staying well. Many keep the practice long after treatment ends.
Random UA & toxicology monitoring
Accountability is a form of support. We provide on-site random urinalysis and toxicology testing with strict chain-of-custody handling, for clients in our programs, for court-ordered monitoring, and for employer or family requests.
For our clients, testing is not a trap. It is structure: a reason to say no that holds up under pressure, and objective proof of progress you can show a court, an employer, or yourself. All results are kept confidential.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.
Which therapies will be in my treatment plan?
That is decided with you at intake, not for you. Nearly every plan includes individual and group therapy. From there, your clinician adds what fits: family sessions, trauma-focused work, art or yoga therapy, and testing when accountability helps. The plan is reviewed and adjusted as you progress.
Are these therapies included in PHP and IOP, or do they cost extra?
They are woven into our programs, not sold as add-ons. When your plan includes art therapy or trauma-focused work, it happens as part of your PHP, IOP, or outpatient schedule.
I have never done therapy. What if I do not know what to say?
That is normal, and it is your therapist's job to make it easy. You start wherever you are, even if that is "I do not know where to start." There is no script, no test, and no wrong way to begin.
Will I have to relive my trauma?
No. Trauma work here is structured and paced deliberately. Before any memory work, your therapist builds coping skills and a sense of safety with you. You share what you choose, when you choose, and you can pause or stop at any time.
Does insurance cover these therapies?
When they are part of your treatment program, most major PPO and HMO plans cover them. We verify your benefits for free, usually within minutes. We do not accept Medi-Cal at this time.
You do not have to do this alone.
