The short answer

"Court-ordered rehab" is not one thing. In Los Angeles County it can mean a drug diversion program under Penal Code 1000, a condition of probation, a requirement in a DCFS case plan, an alternative-sentencing arrangement, or a recommendation your attorney makes before a hearing. What they have in common is that a court or agency wants proof that you enrolled in a licensed treatment program, attended, and completed it.

Licensed outpatient treatment satisfies most of these requirements. It does not have to be residential, and it does not have to be in the same city as the courthouse. It has to be licensed, it has to document your attendance, and it has to be real treatment. This guide is general information, not legal advice; your attorney knows your case.

Who orders treatment in LA County

  • Superior Court judges, as part of sentencing, diversion, or a plea agreement. The Los Angeles Superior Court hears San Gabriel Valley cases at courthouses across the east county.
  • The Probation Department, when treatment is a condition of formal or informal probation.
  • The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), through a case plan when substance use is part of a dependency case.
  • DUI cases: the state-licensed DUI education program is a separate requirement from treatment. If the court also orders substance-use treatment, that is where a program like ours comes in.
  • Employers and licensing boards, less often, through a return-to-work or fitness-for-duty agreement.

What the court will accept

Every court and agency wants paper. Ours is the same paper the court hub describes, produced on the schedule the court sets:

  • Written proof of enrollment, usually within 48 hours of intake, confirming your program and start date
  • Attendance records, signed and dated, for every session
  • Progress reports to your attorney, probation officer, or case worker at the interval they require
  • Drug test results when the court requires them
  • A completion certificate when you finish, with the level of care and dates

Getting to Glendora from across the county

Glendora sits on the 210 freeway in the east San Gabriel Valley, at 1340 E. Route 66, Suite 206. From Pasadena it is about 25 minutes east on the 210. From West Covina, Covina, Azusa, and San Dimas, ten to twenty minutes. From Pomona and the Inland Empire border, fifteen to twenty-five minutes on the 10 or the 210. From downtown Los Angeles, plan on 40 to 50 minutes outside rush hour.

Outpatient care means you live at home and come in for sessions, on day or evening tracks. If the drive is a real barrier, say so on the first call and we will build a schedule around it.

What no program can promise

No treatment program can promise a dismissal, a lighter sentence, custody of your children, or a judge's decision. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What treatment can do is give your attorney documentation of real effort, give the court a reason to believe the pattern is changing, and give you a life that does not put you back in front of a judge. Our guide to whether rehab helps a court case goes deeper on this, honestly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.

Does my treatment program have to be in the same city as my court?

Usually not. Courts and probation in Los Angeles County generally accept licensed programs they can verify, and what matters is the license, the documentation, and your attendance. Confirm with your attorney or probation officer before you enroll. Glendora serves people from across the San Gabriel Valley and the wider county.

Is outpatient treatment enough, or does the court want residential?

For most diversion, probation, and DCFS requirements, licensed outpatient treatment is accepted and is often what the court expects. If your order specifies a level of care, we will tell you honestly whether we meet it on the first call.

Can you talk to my attorney or probation officer directly?

Yes, with your written consent. Our court liaison sends enrollment letters, progress reports, and completion certificates on the schedule your case requires, and answers questions from your attorney or PO.

I have a hearing next week. Can I start before then?

Often the same day you call. Admissions answers 24/7 at (626) 594-0881, and written proof of enrollment usually reaches your attorney within 48 hours of intake.

You do not have to do this alone.
