After Detox: What Comes Next
Detox gets the substance out of your body. It does not touch the reasons you were using, and it is not where recovery happens. Glendora Recovery Center is the step after detox: structured outpatient treatment, close to home, starting within days of discharge. If you still need a detox, we will help you find the right one first.

Who this is for
The week after detox is the most fragile week in recovery. The body is clear, the cravings are loud, and the life that was there before is still there. Step-down care is built for exactly that week and the months that follow. It is for you if:
- You are finishing a detox or residential program and need a plan for the day you walk out
- You searched for detox in Glendora and are not sure whether you need one, or what happens after
- You detoxed once already and went back to using because nothing came next
- You want to keep your job, your home, and your family routine while getting real treatment
- Your medication-assisted treatment needs to continue while you get therapy around it

What step-down care includes
The clinical work detox does not have time for.
- A same-week intake, timed to your detox discharge date
- Coordination with your detox program so nothing is lost in the handoff
- PHP for full treatment days when the first weeks need structure
- IOP on day and evening schedules when you are ready for work and life again
- Individual therapy, group therapy, and family sessions
- CBT and DBT skills for cravings, triggers, and the situations that led to using
- Coordination with your MAT prescriber if buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone is part of your plan
- Treatment for the anxiety, depression, or trauma that was underneath the use
- Free aftercare for life once you complete your program
How it works, from the first call
Whether you have already detoxed or are still deciding.
If you still need detox, that comes first
Glendora Recovery Center does not run a detox unit. Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and heavy opioid use can be medically dangerous, and it should happen under medical supervision. Call us anyway. We will talk through what you are using and how much, help you find a detox program that fits your insurance and your situation, and hold your place here for the day you finish.
The handoff
With your permission, we coordinate directly with the detox program: discharge date, medications you are leaving on, and what the clinical team there recommends. Your first day with us is often the day after you leave, sometimes the same day, so there is no empty gap where old habits move back in.
PHP, then IOP
Most people step down into PHP: full treatment days, home at night. As the first weeks settle, the schedule moves to IOP, several sessions a week around work or school, on day or evening tracks. The level of care is a clinical decision made with you, not an insurance decision.
Medication continues
If you left detox on buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone, that continues. We coordinate with your prescriber and treat medication-assisted recovery as recovery, full stop.
Then, for life
When you complete your program, aftercare is free and it does not expire. Alumni groups, check-ins, and a direct line back to the team that knows your story.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Anything else? Call us, day or night.
Do you offer detox in Glendora?
No. Glendora Recovery Center is an outpatient treatment center, not a detox or residential facility. What we do is help you find a detox program that fits, coordinate the handoff, and provide the PHP, IOP, and aftercare that follows. If you are searching for detox in Glendora, call us and we will point you in the right direction the same day.
Can I just quit alcohol or Xanax at home and then come in?
Please talk to a doctor or a detox program first. Withdrawal from alcohol and from benzodiazepines like Xanax or Valium can cause seizures and other medical emergencies. Opioid withdrawal is rarely dangerous but is miserable enough that medical support makes a real difference. One more thing about opioids: after detox, tolerance is lower and overdose risk is higher if you use again, so keep naloxone nearby. If someone is having a seizure, cannot be woken, or may have overdosed, call 911.
How soon after detox should I start treatment?
As soon as possible, ideally the day after discharge. The first days out of detox are when cravings are strongest and the pull of old routines is loudest. We schedule your intake around your discharge date so there is no gap.
Can I go straight to IOP instead of PHP?
Sometimes. It depends on what you were using, how stable your home situation is, and what the detox team recommends. The assessment on your first day settles it, and the answer can change as you get steadier. Either way, you live at home and keep your life around treatment.
Does insurance cover treatment after detox?
Most major PPO and HMO plans cover PHP and IOP as the continuing care after detox, and many plans expect it. We verify your benefits for free, usually within minutes. We do not accept Medi-Cal at this time.
You do not have to do this alone.
