Outpatient mental health treatment lets you get structured, clinical care for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, and co-occurring substance use while still living at home, keeping your job, and staying connected to your family. At Glendora Recovery Center, our mental health programs are built around two outpatient levels of care — a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — so you can step into the right intensity of support and step down as you stabilize. We’re located in Glendora, minutes from the 210 and 57 freeways, and welcome clients from across the San Gabriel Valley and greater Los Angeles.

Outpatient mental health programs at Glendora Recovery Center
Outpatient care is the right starting point for most people seeking help for their mental health. It delivers the same evidence-based therapies, psychiatric oversight, and group support you’d find in higher levels of care, but on a schedule that works around your life rather than replacing it. Our day, evening, and weekend sessions mean you don’t have to choose between getting well and meeting your responsibilities.
Both of our programs are outpatient by design — you return home each day and apply what you learn in real time, with your clinical team adjusting your plan as you progress. If you want a fuller picture of how this model works, our overview of outpatient mental health services and their benefits is a good place to start.
Our mental health levels of care
We meet you where you are. Your assessment determines which level fits your symptoms, history, and goals — and you can move between levels as your needs change.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our Partial Hospitalization Program is the most structured outpatient option, ideal when you need significant daily support but not 24-hour care. PHP combines individual therapy, group sessions, skills training, and psychiatric medication management across multiple hours per day, several days a week. It’s a strong fit if you’re stepping toward stability and want intensive treatment while still sleeping in your own bed each night.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our Intensive Outpatient Program offers focused clinical care in fewer weekly hours than PHP, making it well suited to people balancing work, school, or family. IOP is also a natural step-down once you’ve stabilized in PHP. If you’re not sure whether the intensity is right for you or a loved one, the signs that point toward IOP-level mental health support can help clarify the decision.
Continuing care and aftercare
Recovery doesn’t end when a program does. Our aftercare planning keeps you connected to support, relapse-prevention tools, and your treatment team as you transition back to everyday routines. For more on navigating ongoing care, see our guidance on managing challenges in adult mental health programs.
Conditions we treat
Our outpatient programs are designed for adults living with a range of mental health conditions, including:
- Depression — including persistent low mood, loss of interest, and functional decline. Learn more about our depression treatment in Los Angeles.
- Anxiety disorders — generalized anxiety, panic, and social anxiety that interfere with daily life.
- Bipolar disorder — mood stabilization and skills for managing emotional highs and lows, detailed on our bipolar disorder treatment page.
- Trauma and PTSD — processing past experiences in a safe, clinically guided setting.
- Co-occurring mental health and substance use — integrated treatment that addresses both at once, rather than one at a time.
Therapies and approaches we use
Every plan is individualized, but most clients experience a blend of proven modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for reshaping thought patterns and building emotional regulation
- Individual, group, and family therapy to address personal goals, peer connection, and family dynamics
- Psychiatric care and medication management overseen by our medical team
- Art therapy and yoga therapy as expressive, body-based complements to talk therapy
Mental health support for teens and adolescents
Young people need care designed for where they are developmentally. We offer dedicated adolescent tracks, including an adolescent outpatient program, PHP for teens, and IOP for teens, with morning, evening, and weekend options that fit around school. Families often ask when to act — our perspective on seeking teen mental health help early speaks to that directly.

Frequently asked questions
What is outpatient mental health treatment? Outpatient mental health treatment provides structured therapy, group support, and psychiatric care while you continue living at home. It ranges from a few hours a week up to most of the day, several days a week, depending on the level of care you need.
What’s the difference between a PHP and an IOP? A Partial Hospitalization Program is the more intensive of the two, with more clinical hours per week. An Intensive Outpatient Program involves fewer weekly hours and is often used as a step-down from PHP or a starting point for people who need flexibility.
Who is a good fit for outpatient mental health care? Outpatient care suits people who need real clinical support but are safe to live at home and want to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities. Your assessment will confirm whether PHP or IOP is the better match.
How long does a mental health PHP or IOP last? Length varies by individual progress. Many people spend a few weeks in PHP before stepping down to IOP, with the full course tailored to your goals and reassessed regularly by your clinical team.
Does insurance cover outpatient mental health treatment? Most major private HMO and PPO plans include mental health benefits. We verify your coverage for free before treatment so you know your options upfront. We currently cannot accept Medi-Cal.
Can I keep working or going to school during treatment? Yes. That’s one of the main advantages of outpatient care. Our day, evening, and weekend sessions are designed to fit around your existing commitments.
What mental health conditions do you treat? We treat depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, and co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions in adults, plus dedicated teen and adolescent programs.
Do you serve people outside Glendora? Yes. We’re based in Glendora and regularly treat clients from across the San Gabriel Valley and greater Los Angeles, including San Dimas, Covina, West Covina, Azusa, Pasadena, and surrounding communities.
